Languages

Mont Albert Primary School's language program offers Auslan across the whole school.

Auslan

All students at Mont Albert from Prep to Year 6 are involved in the Auslan Program.

As an inclusive school, we are committed to promoting a quality education for all, strengthening cooperation and building better communities. Auslan was created by deaf and hearing-impaired Australians.

Incorporating Auslan into the school program has many benefits for all children as sign language can:
  • enhance children’s educational and personal development;
  • increase memory retention and motion processing;
  • stimulate brain development and mental flexibility;
  • and increase enjoyment in communicating for both hearing and deaf children.

Library

Along with the expertise of our teachers, we are most fortunate to have a visually attractive and well-resourced library that the students have access to.

Weekly visits to the Library are timetabled sessions taken by a Library teacher as we look to immerse our non-English speakers more formally through Library lessons as we continue developing a love of literacy for all.
