Last week, Sharon attended a special ceremony where they announced the winner of the 2014 John Laing Awards. John Laing is a former Tasmanian school principal who worked for Principals Australia Institute. His passionate belief and energy were the driving force behind the first cross-sectoral professional learning projects for all school leaders in Australia.
To no surprise for those that work with Sharon, she was successful in being awarded this prestigious award. The award recognises Sharon’s efforts for making an exceptional contribution to school leadership and to the professional development of her peers. Congratulations Sharon from all of the community of Mont Albert Primary School. We are certainly indeed very fortunate and privileged to have you working at our school.

Congratulations to our 2014 School Captains: Alistair Henderson & Maella Teele
I am extremely excited about being School Captain for 2014. I’m looking forward to leading Assemblies and taking prospective parents and visitors on school tours to show them all the great things our school has to offer. I am also looking forward to being a positive role model for the younger students and helping Mrs Saitlik and the teachers wherever possible.
I think Maella and I together with the House and Vice Captains will make an excellent team. I will always give 100 percent and strive to do my best for the school. I just can’t wait to get into the year ahead. 2014 is going to be the best!
It is such an amazing honour to be School Captain for 2014. When my name was called in Assembly as the female School Captain, my first thought was "Me? No way!" I'm sure that Alistair and I will make a great team leading the school this year along with the help of all the teachers and Mrs Saitlik.
I am very excited about this year and I am ready to take on all of the challenges that this year and this leadership role will provide for me.
